www.codexalimentarius.net/current.asp.
Codex was created in 1963 by two United Nations organizations, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the
World Health Organization. Codex develops food standards, guidelines and codes of practice in order to protect
the health of consumers, and ensure fair food trade practices and promote coordination of food standards undertaken
by international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
The CCMAS was established to perform multiple functions; define criteria appropriate for Codex methods of analysis
and sampling; specify reference methods of analysis and sampling; endorse methods of analysis and sampling
proposed by Codex Committees; elaborate sampling plans; and consider specific sampling and analysis problems.
Written comments may be submitted by interested parties at the meeting or by e-mail to the U.S. Delegate to the
CCMAS, Dr. Gregory Diachenko, FDA, at Gregory.Diachenko@fda.hhs.gov.
