PBS&J International is providing staff augmentation services to Nakheel, one of Dubai’s premiere developers, for the Jumeirah Village residential development project in the heart of Dubai’s most desirable district. PBS&J is providing senior management for the planning, design, and construction of the self-sustained community, which will ultimately serve 300,000 residents and emphasize sustainable, eco-friendly design elements. Services are provided locally through PBS&J’s Dubai office.
The project includes reclaiming approximately 1,500 acres of land from the desert, installing basic infrastructure, and then constructing residences, international schools, community centers, jogging and cycling trails, sports and leisure facilities, medical facilities, and round-the-clock security. Nakheel plans to build more than 2,000 two-bedroom villas and one- and two-bedroom townhouses, constructed in classic Arabian and Mediterranean architectural styles. The rest of the facilities and residences will be designed and built by third-party developers under the supervision of Nakheel.
Inspired by the principles of “New Urbanism,” Jumeirah Village’s design emphasizes qualities such as connectivity, mixed-use and diversity, smart transportation, traditional neighborhood structure, and walkability. In addition, all district cooling facilities for the community are designed to optimize energy consumption, and the use of eco-friendly bio fuels such as natural gas is encouraged whenever possible.
