Victim Assistance
Mission

The primary purpose of the Department of the Interior's Victim Assistance Program is to ensure that victims of crime are assisted and advised of the Federal (Department of Justice) program. The Interior program is intended to ensure that Interior law enforcement employees, as first responders, treat victims fairly and with understanding. In addition to rendering all appropriate aid and gathering critical information for the apprehension and eventual successful prosecution of offenders, our employees are supportive of these victims with the understanding that without their cooperation and assistance, the criminal justice system would be unable to function. The Department of the Interior Victim Assistance Program is managed by the Office of Law Enforcement, Security & Emergency Management.
