Greetings:
-------- perhaps the cache needs cleaned on your system.
The majority of issues are resolved when I send this text to our web users.
Java is necessary for radar looping and is best optimized using Java version
1.4.2 or higher.
Go to www.java.com/en for more information regarding Java.
PS: In your add ons, JVM must be enabled!

---------Recent Java Update Affects Radar Loops (2007-05-07)
Recently Java made a major upgrade from version 1.5 to 1.6. This upgrade
is being pushed to all Java users and requires several minutes to update.
After the upgrade to version 1.6, a number of people have noted that the
enhanced loops on the RIDGE Radar pages no longer work. After extensive
troubleshooting, a likely cause for the problem has been identified.
A special Ani Java Applet (the actual applet that does the loops) was
developed for the RIDGE Radar Enhanced loops to work with Java 1.6. If
you are not able to view the loops anymore (a key indicator is "Anis
notinited" in the Java console) you are likely reading an old version of
the Anis Applet from your cache.
The Fix -
1) clear the cache (both browser and Java) In Windows, click START >
SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL
In the Control Panel, look for the Java Icon and click it to open the
Java Control Panel.
In the Java Control Panel, click the "General" tab at the top. At the
bottom of that tab is a section titled "Temporary Internet Files" and a
Delete button - click the delete button - this will delete the applet
and applet files. The next time you visit the page with the loop it will
reload (may take a minute or so) -
2) Ensure Java 1.6 is properly installed.

For Mac's (using OS X) - clearing the cache appears to work in both
Firefox and Safari -
Firefox:
Preferences
Privacy
Cache
Clear Cache Now
Restart browser
Safari
Empty Cache
Restart browser
I checked the enhanced loops in both browsers, neither had been used
since the new applet and neither radar loop display worked. Clearing the
cache and restarting the browsers worked.
-----------older method follows------------
One possible solution (which has resolved the vast majority of reported problems) is:
You may also need to clear the Java files:
In Windows, click START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL
In the Control Panel, look for the Java Icon and click it to open the
Java Control Panel.
In the Java Control Panel, click the "General" tab at the top. At the
bottom of that tab is a section titled "Temporary Internet Files" and a
Delete button - click the delete button - this will delete the applet
and applet files. The next time you visit the page with the loop it will
reload (may take a minute or so) -
This should clear the invalid file problem.
Also - it's important that the Sun java is being used - not the old
Microsoft Java VM - I had a recent exchange with a user that was adamant
that our site was broken - turned out that they refused to update their
Java from the old Microsoft to Sun - once they finally (after calling me
every name in the book that I didn't know what I was talking about and
all I was doing was trying to 'sell" then the Sun java) installed the
Sun version - the loops magically started working - of course their
comment was that "we had fixed our radars" - it had nothing to do with
them upgrading to a supported Java!).
--additionally---
1/ Look in add/remove programs and remove ALL Previous java installs.
2/ clear the temp internet files
3/ reboot PC, if necessary.
