Cooperative Observer Program
About This Page
Cooperative observers are very much a part of the National Weather Service...collecting much needed weather data. To read more about the observers, look below.
15 Yr Service Award

Mr. Samuel Cobb of Keo, Arkansas has been a cooperative observer for the National Weather Service for 15 years.  He has measured temperature (high and low) and rainfall, and mailed his measurements to the National Weather Service at the end of each month. These measurements are sent to the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, North Carolina and eventually published to become a part of the permanent record of the world's weather.

For his efforts, Mr. Cobb received a 15 Year Length-of-Service Award in June, 2005.

Mr. Cobb took over the observing duties from his father in 1990...who became an observer in 1969. Mr. Cobb's interests include running the local cotton gin and a pecan business.
