Infrastructure/Transportation - Highlighted Project Experience

Jacksonville Electric Authority Continuing Services - Duval County, Florida

Project Type: Environmental & Ecological Assessments

Environmental Services, Inc., (ESI) was awarded an on-going services contract with the Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) to complete environmental and ecological assessments.  ESI assists JEA in site selection and permitting for utility corridors and facilities by conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), contamination assessments, soil and groundwater remediation, protected species surveys, preliminary wetland assessments and wetland delineations.  ESI had completed numerous projects that include preliminary wetland assessments as well as wetland delineations for JEA.  Along with the assessments ESI has also completed wetland permitting with Florida Department of Environmental Protection, US Army Corps of Engineers and the St. Johns River Water Management District, ESI provides consultation to JEA and coordinates on their behalf with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies to facilitate the approval of proposed projects.  ESI also did Coast Guard permitting as well as a mitigation bank feasibility study.

ESI has completed several Phase I and II ESAs as well as an Interim Remedial Action (IRA) for an arsenic and lead impacted soils area within two former substations.  All project work was completed in general conformance with the scope and limitations of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Practice E1527-05 and with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) guidelines.
