DOT/SR-312 Extension Project - St. Johns County, Florida

Project Type: Contamination Assessment, Wetland Assessment

Environmental Services, Inc., (ESI) in conjunction with Prosser Hallock, Inc., was awarded a Florida DOT contract to complete contamination assessment, wetland assessment, a wildlife survey and cultural resource assessments in support of an intended new highway improvement project to extend SR-312 from SR-207 south of St Augustine, northward to U.S. Highway 1 north of St. Augustine. The proposed new highway alignment extended approximately 10-miles through mostly undeveloped lands as an alternate by-pass route for St. Augustine. All project work was completed in general conformance with the scope and limitations of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Practice E1527-00, FDOT PD&E Manual, and with National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) guidelines.

Areas of impact were identified relative to each of the four major categories associated with NEPA and PD&E.  Each impact area was then evaluated for its extent of impact to the proposed highway alignment to allow for alternate route planning.
