G. Wayne Clough   G. Wayne Clough, former president of the Georgia Institute of Technology since 1994, was elected the 12th Secretary of the Smithsonian by the Board of Regents March 15 and officially assumed the office July 1.

He comes to the Smithsonian with a documented commitment to innovation, education and research, diversity, economic development and technology; a fundraising legacy at Georgia Tech that is unmatched in the history of the university; and extensive experience in public policy issues at the local, state and national levels.
