Energy Assistance Programs

If you're late paying your bill, contact us as soon as possible so we can help you with payment plans or other payment assistance options. Here are a few:

Medical Condition Request
This program delays a turn-off of your electric service when it would be life-threatening to a permanent member of the household. The program gives you time to get financial help. but it doesn't reduce your bill.

EnergyShare
EnergyShare pays for any type of heating bill -- oil, wood, kerosene, natural gas or electricity. The program provides a one-time payment of last resort for those who have exhausted other forms of assistance or who do not qualify for such help. Read more about the program or contact your local Salvation Army office to apply.

Virginia Energy Assistance
View details on the Virginia Department of Social Services Web site. There are four parts to the program:

• Fuel Assistance - helps eligible households with the costs of heating their homes.
  
  
• Crisis Assistance - helps households in heating emergency situations with primary heat security deposits, utility heating bills, repair/replacement of heating equipment, primary heating fuel or emergency shelter.
  
  
• Cooling Assistance – helps with cooling equipment purchases or repairs and also with the electric bill.
  
  
• Weatherization Assistance – helps with energy efficiency and air infiltration.
