Briefly

Mary Anne Normile is Chief of the Foreign Demand and Competition (FDC) Branch in ERS's Market and Trade Economics Division. The branch provides economic research, information, and analysis of key food, agricultural, and trade and competition policy issues of major markets and competitors. These include Brazil, Canada, China, the European Union, India, Japan, Mexico, Russia, and South Korea. The branch research program also covers agricultural and trade policy, global food security, market impacts of biofuels, agricultural systems risk and Regulation, and participation in USDA's Emerging Markets Program of technical assistance. Mary Anne's research has focused on multilateral trade liberalization and the effects of domestic agricultural and trade policy.

Education

Mary Anne received an M.A. in Economics from the Pennsylvania State University in 1982 and a B.A. in French from Rosary Hill (Daemen) College in 1973.
