Briefly
Stephen Vogel is an agricultural economist in the Rural Economy Branch, Food and Rural Economics Division. His current research focus is in two areas. The first area is concerned with the macroeconomic and general equilibrium effects of food assistance programs as automatic stabilizers on poor households. The second area is concerned with the general equilibrium effects farm programs have on factor markets and their policy implications for regional and rural economies. Current Projects
- General equilibrium effects of farm programs on rural and regional economies.
- General equilibrium effects of federal safety net programs with a special focus on the programs’ indirect linkages to low income households and labor income.
Education
Stephen has a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Professional Affiliations
