Briefly

Margaret Andrews is an Economist in the Food Assistance Branch of ERS's Food Economics Division. Her research interests are in the areas of food security, food access, and participation and impacts of SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly know as the Food Stamp Program.)

Background

Prior to joining ERS, Margaret was at the Office of Analysis and Evaluation at USDA's Food and Nutrition Service where she designed and managed several large-scale evaluation projects, including the National Food Stamp Program Survey. Prior to coming to USDA, she was a faculty member in the Department of Economics and Marketing at Rutgers University, and a Resident Fellow at the National Center for Food and Agricultural Policy at Resources for the Future.

Education

Margaret has a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.
