American Forest Foundation
Global Certification

Certification is used as a means of recognizing outstanding forest stewardship. It is the means of auditing a process or operation to determine its conformance to acceptable standards. Although the certification landscape is changing, ATFS is changing too – international recognition by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes in August 2008, adopting new Standards of Sustainability for Forest Certification (Standards) in 2004, and offering group certification.

However, today’s world of forest certification is dynamic and ATFS is making sure that it maintains its position as an internationally credible and respected certification system for small private landowners.

ATFS is proud of its heritage as America’s oldest and largest forest certification system for small forestland owners.
