Site Assessment and Remediation Projects

Ferris Street Starbucks / Former Milam Building - Green Cove Springs, Clay County

Project Type: Underground Storage Tank (UST) Closure and Assessment

ESI completed an Underground Storage Tank (UST) Closure and Assessment of three (3) unregistered 2,000-gallon diesel/gasoline USTs and performed Interim Remedial Action (IRA) activities at the Ferris Street Starbucks and former gas station located at 324 Ferris Street, in the City of Green Cove Springs, Clay County, Florida.  Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), Phase II ESA, and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey activities were initially completed at the property.  The GPR study identified three (3) USTs that warranted physical investigation in the form of backhoe excavation.  IRA activities consisting of excavation, transport, and off-site disposal of approximately 22.76 tons of impacted soils and 665 gallons of impacted groundwater were conducted in order to remove an area of impact identified by the tank closure and assessment.  All post excavation soil and groundwater samples collected for confirmatory laboratory analysis yielded results that were below the laboratory method detection limit or the appropriate CTLs.  All field activities were performed in accordance with the respective Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Chapter 62-777 and ESI’s Quality Assurance Manual, as required by the FDEP.

The Tank Closure and Assessment Report (TCAR) was submitted to the FDEP and No Further Action (NFA) status was approved in September 2006.
