Congressman Gregory Meeks Congratulates Timothy Geithner on being sworn in as the 75th Secretary of the U.S. Treasury

(WASHINGTON, DC)–Congressman Gregory Meeks congratulates Timothy Geithner on being sworn in as the 75th Secretary of the U.S. Treasury. Secretary Geithner, who recently served as head of the Federal Reserve, will oversee President Obama’s economic recovery plan. Geithner has held key executive positions in financial policy and has held several positions in the Department of Treasury under three administrations.  He served as Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs from 1999 to 2001 and as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 2003 to 2008. Additionally, the Secretary also served as the Vice Chairman and permanent member of the Federal Open Market committee while at the Federal Reserve, which is responsible for formulating the nation’s monetary policy. » read more
