Irrigation Water Management
The training will present an introduction to irrigation
water management, soil characteristics related to irrigation
water management, crop characteristics and water use,
irrigation methods and how they function and irrigation
scheduling. There will be a breakout session where
participants will have "hands on" experience with several
types of soil moisture sensors. |

Conservation Practice Writing Workshop
The workshop examines the policy and concepts involved in
developing conservation practice standards. A review of
policy, in-class exercises and discussion of a national
conservation practice standard are used to illustrate how to
develop a state standard. |

Soil Quality Assessment and Applications for Field Staff
An NEDC supported course, this 2.5 to 3 day course has been
updated to include an emphasis on dynamic soil properties
for the new soil survey, making it appropriate training for
conservationists, soil scientists, and other discipline
specialists. Soil quality basics, indicators, and management
are taught using hands-on demonstrations, activities and
field exercises. |

practices that encourage pollinators. |

Stream Visual Assessment Protocol (SVAP) 2.0
Classroom and field course intended to provide the
fundamental knowledge necessary to complete all SVAP
elements. Class activities will cover river and stream
structure, function, and ecology with specific reference to
the relationships between SVAP scoring elements and a
qualitative description of stream condition. Field
activities will cover data collection concepts, tools and
methods associated with each scoring element. |
