Forestry - Tree Ordinance Compliance and Permitting

Urban forests provide a wealth of ecological, aesthetic and economic benefits. Our staff of Certified Arborists (International Society of Arboriculture) and Certified Foresters (Society of American Foresters) are qualified to perform comprehensive reviews of individual trees, as well as large-scale assessments within urban areas or proposed developments.

Many counties or municipalities have enacted ordinances as part of their land development codes, to protect trees based on species, size and location. In many cases, this can lead to costly tree mitigation fees, as well as potential fines. Our certified staff are experienced in navigating these ordinances and can inventory protected and mitigation trees, prepare tree mitigation plans and coordinate with the regulating authority to attain the most cost effective results for the landowner. ESI can also help to reduce overall mitigation costs by identifying diseased, dead or misclassified trees that can be eliminated from the assessment.

ESI also performs tree health and safety assessments for communities and individuals. We conduct assessments of the health of existing trees and provide recommendations on fertilization, pruning and removals. ESI can also prepare planting recommendations and plans, as well as coordinate and provide oversight of subcontractors for all necessary work.
