Geographic Information Systems - Predictive Modeling

ESI is becoming a leader in the development of archaeological site predictive models. Predictive modeling uses existing information on archaeological site locations and environmental data combined with statistical analysis to produce site location probability models. Planners and engineers use probability models during the initial stages of project design to determine the potential for a project to impact cultural resources. ESI can produce a wide variety of models depending on project needs, from a project-specific model to a statewide model. ESI’s leadership in this field is exemplified by the 2003 award from the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission for a predictive model of Duval County and citations in academic and professional journals (The Military Engineer and Civil Engineering Magazine).
