TRANSIT SUBSIDY

SMARTBENEFITS PROGRAM

Effective October 2002, USDA will participate in the SmarTrip Card Program.  The SmarTrip Card is another alternative for eligible transit subsidy participants (those who use ALL of their Metrocheks as Metrorail farecards) to receive their transit subsidy benefits.   It is not mandatory that a participant transfer to the SmarTrip Card Program.

NOTE: Employees who exchange some or all of their Metrocheks for weekly and monthly Metrorail and Metrobus passes (or the passes and the fares of other types of public transportation) cannot participate in Smart Benefits at this time.  The SmartTrip card can be used for Metrorail travel only. Program participants must purchase a SmarTrip Card.If you already have a SmarTrip Card, you do not have to purchase another.
