Smithfield, Pennsylvania, Resident Entered Guilty Plea to Trafficking in Copyrighted CDs

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA - A 56 year old Smithfield, Pennsylvania, resident entered a plea of guilty on November 13, 2007, in United States District Court in Elkins before Judge Robert E. Maxwell.

United States Attorney Sharon L. Potter announced that GEORGE K. FRAZEE entered a plea of guilty to one count of an Information charging him with trafficking 1,147 music compact discs that were copies of the copyrighted property of artists which were reproduced without authority and which were packaged to resemble legitimate products on September 3, 2005, in Preston County, West Virginia.

FRAZEE, who is currently free on bond pending sentencing, faces a maximum exposure of 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $2,000,000.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David E. Godwin. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the West Virginia State Police.
