Stan Levine (Kennett Square, PA): Through Delaware Learn and Serve, Stan serves as the Service-learning Coordinator at the Howard High School of Technology in Wilmington, Del. As a result of Stan’s leadership, the number of students and teachers engaged in service-learning at Howard High has tripled. Howard High has become a model of service-learning and a leader throughout the city in applying academic skills to service in the community. Stan has also become an effective, enthusiastic and energetic promoter of service-learning outside Howard High. He has developed partnerships with faith-based and other private schools so those schools could take advantage of funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service. These collaborations have allowed students to participate in enriching intergenerational projects and for adults and children of diverse backgrounds to work together to meet community needs. |
