"The things we need to do to make a better society—we must do them now... we cannot wait for someone else to do it!"

— Rep. John Lewis

The 2009 National Conference on Volunteering and Service, taking place June 22-24 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, promises to be a bellwether in the growing movement to redefine citizenship and volunteering for the 21st century. Co-convened by Points of Light Institute and the Corporation for National and Community Service, the annual gathering will provide more than 3,000 volunteer and service leaders from the nonprofit, government, and corporate sectors with an unparalleled opportunity to learn from, connect with, and be inspired by some of the leading thinkers and practitioners in the volunteering and service field — all in a beautiful city known for its innovative and progressive approach to change.

This year's theme—"Civic. Energy. Generation."—reflects the tremendous excitement in our nation today as people of all ages and backgrounds unify in a powerful movement to bring about social change. Come to the San Francisco Bay Area this June to learn how best to tap into this new civic mindedness in order to mobilize volunteers to meet critical needs in your community. Participate in vital conversations about the future of service and volunteering in America. Share stories of inspiration and impact with your peers. And come away renewed, refreshed, and revitalized!
