Hello, my name is Yvette Owo and I am here with Accenture. And so I’m going to talk a little bit about why Accenture is doing service today and why I am personally doing service today. Accenture’s doing it because the company has a commitment to corporate citizenship and, in addition to caring about diversity and wanting to make people realize that by doing something on Martin Luther King Day, they also have a commitment to doing things in the community. A lot of Accenture employees as individuals like to do community service and so it makes them feel good to know their company’s also committed to service. And this is one way as a whole we can do service. I was telling someone earlier today I think there are 1,000 to 1,500 Accenture people out of the DC office doing community service today alone. In addition to the fact that we have …our company’s based on project to project work we have entire projects that do nonprofit work, we have this today, we do service throughout the year with the DC office. So I think that’s why the company is committed to showing people that it’s an inclusive culture and their committed to corporate citizenship.
Personally, I am here because I really like this stuff. When I was in college I did a lot of community service. I continue to mentor in community service and I’ve always done education and things in low income neighborhoods so when they had the sign-up sheet this was perfect for me, so that’s why I’m here.
