1. Where are Arizona State University's campuses located?
ASU has four major campuses in metropolitan Phoenix: Tempe, Polytechnic, West and Downtown Phoenix offering distinct educational experiences to students. Maps.
2. How do I get a media parking pass?
Tempe campus: The Media Relations Office, in cooperation with the campus Office of Parking and Transit Services, issues media parking passes for several lots as well as the reserved spots for Media Relations. Media Parking Passes are also valid in Lot 59, accessible via Packard Drive by Sun Devil Stadium and Wells Fargo Arena. They ARE NOT VALID at parking meters, Pay and Display Lot spaces, or spaces in visitor parking lots, restricted access lots, reserved or disabled parking spaces or in red zones. Polytechnic campus: Parking passes can be provided with advance notice. Contact Christine Lambrakis at 480-727-1173.
Downtown campus: Parking passes are not required, but can be provided for special events.
3. Where can media park?
Tempe Campus: Reserved media parking spaces - Two free parking spaces are reserved for media use, on a first-come, first served basis. The media MUST sign in at the Media Relations Office, Administration B-Wing, Room 353. (If you do not sign in, your vehicle could be called in and impounded.) One space is located on the east side of Forest Avenue, just south of Gammage Parkway next to the Student Services Building.
The second space is located in ASU's Lot 3, adjacent to Gammage Auditorium. To access the space, enter the Gammage Parking lot from the east on Lemon Street. Take the first left into the southeast portion of the lot. The space is located immediately to the right, next to the spaces reserved for patrons of the Gammage Box Office.
Visitor parking also is available in Apache Boulevard Parking Structure (formerly PS-1) on the corner of College Avenue and Apache Boulevard; Rural Road Parking Structure (formerly PS-4), located on the northwest corner of Rural Road and Lemon Street; and the Fulton Center Parking Structure, on College Avenue north of University Drive. Parking for reporters is available at any time in these lots on a space-available basis. Validation is available at the Media Relations Office, Administration B-Wing, Room 353.
Equipment transportation - The Media Relations Office has an electric cart for use on campus malls. The cart can seat six people (including a driver) and has a 20-square-foot cargo area. If you need to shoot in an interior area of campus, we will be happy to provide transportation via the cart if you notify us in advance.
Polytechnic Campus: Parking is available in visitor lots 6, 12, 24, and 40.
West Campus: Parking is available in visitor lot 6. Validation stamps are available with West Campus Public Relations, (602) 543-5220.
Downtown campus: There are many parking options downtown - metered street parking and parking at the garage just east of University Center at 411 N. Central Ave. Mercado parking is available at the Heritage and Science Parking Garage at Fifth and Monroe streets. There are also many public parking lots in the area. Reporters do need validation stamps - usually available from the department/ASU representative the reporter is meeting with.
4. What if I get a parking ticket?
If you get a parking ticket for a violation of university parking regulations while you are on campus working on a story or attending a news conference, you must submit an appeal to the Parking and Transit Services Appeal Office within 14 days of the citation issue date. An appeal can be made in person at the Appeals Office, located in the Towers Building on Fifth Street or via the Online Parking Services, the citation number is required to appeal online
5. Can I park on the campus malls?
The Media Relations Office can make arrangements for parking media vehicles on the campus malls only when absolutely necessary. The malls are designed for pedestrian use, not vehicles, thus access is severely restricted.
To make arrangements, call the Media Relations Office at (480) 965-3502. We ask that you give us at least 48 hours advance notice so we can then make sure there won't be any problems. Emergency requests will be considered on a case by case basis. The ASU Police Department reserves the right to deny any request for parking on a university mall or walkway if in its estimation it would create a hazard.
6. How do I film on campus?
• All filming and all commercial videotaping on campus must be approved in advance.
• All filming by recognized commercial news agencies is coordinated through the ASU Office of Media Relations (480) 965-3502 at the Tempe campus, or the Public Affairs office at Polytechnic at .
• Freelance, art and commercial film and commercial videotaping must be approved in advance by Public Events (480) 965-5062). Approval of filming will require a written agreement with ASU and appropriate insurance.
• No use of ASU trademarks or service marks is permitted without written approval.
7. How can I park a satellite truck for live broadcasting?
Various locations are avilable on campus that will provide the sitelines needed for a live broadcast. Contact Keith Jennings, at 480-965-3504, with as much advance notice as possible to make arrangements.
