U.S. Marshals Arrest Texas Fugitive in Phoenix Area

Phoenix, AZ - The United States Marshals Service WANTED Task Force in Phoenix, announce the arrest of a man wanted in Texas for sexual assault charges from 1999.

Charles Eugene Holybee, 61yoa, is wanted in Longview, Texas on a December, 1999 warrant alleging sex offenses with his 14 year old daughter. When Holybee became aware of pending charges, he abandoned his semi truck and trailer in Shepherd, Texas and vanished. Holybee had been a fugitive for almost 9 years.

U.S. Marshals from the WANTED Task Force Child Predator Apprehension Team (CPAT) arrested Holybee this morning at an apartment complex in El Mirage, Arizona, where he was working as the assistant manager and maintenance man.

Holybee is alleged to have been molesting his 14 year old daughter when she accompanied him on trips while he was employed as a truck driver. In June, 2006, the Gregg County Sheriff’s Department requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service in Tyler, Texas to locate and apprehend Holybee. U.S. Marshals developed information that Holybee might be residing in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The U.S. Marshals in Tyler, Texas provided the U.S. Marshals in Phoenix with the investigative information, who were able to locate and arrest Holybee without incident.

“We take great pride in being able to use all our available resources to not only arrest dangerous fugitives, but also the type of individuals that prey on the most helpless of victims, our children.” said David Gonzales, the United States Marshals for the District of Arizona.

Holybee is being held at the Maricopa County Jail where he is awaiting extradition to Texas.
