Former NBA Basketball Player Vernon Leon Maxwell, was arrested on May 29,
2008 by members of the U.S. Marshals sponsored Hornet’s Nest Task Force.
On May 28, 2008, a federal warrant for arrest for violations of the
conditions of federal supervision was issued for Vernon Leon Maxwell by the
United States District Court for the Western District of Washington. United
States Marshal Service authorities in the Western District of Washington
forwarded information on Maxwell to the Hornets Nest Task Force in the
Western District of North Carolina. Maxwell was located at the Mecklenburg
County Courthouse and was immediately taken into federal custody by U.S.
Marshals following an appearance in state court.
Maxwell was originally sentenced to serve 5 years of federal probation for
willful failure to pay child support.
