A fugitive wanted by the Glynn County Sheriff’s
Department was by the U.S. Marshals New York /New Jersey Regional Fugitive
Task Force in Rochester, New York on April 25, 2008, based on information
generated by the Savannah Office of the Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive
Task Force.
John Cunningham, 27, was being sought on warrants issued in Glynn County,
Georgia charging him with Probation Violation and Failure to Register as a
Sex Offender. The original charge which labeled him as a Sex Offender and
requires him to register every year was a Statutory Rape charge from 1999 in
Glynn County. The case was referred to the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional
Fugitive Task Force to help locate and arrest this subject. Numerous leads
have been worked by the task force. New leads generated by the Marshals
Service Fugitive Task Force indicated that Cunningham was in a house at 46
Austin Street in Rochester, New York.
The Marshals NY/NJ Fugitive Task Force conducted surveillance at the address
over the last couple of days and waited for Cunningham to exit the house
this morning. Cunningham came out of the house apparently to go to work when
the Marshals arrested him without incident. Cunningham has been a fugitive
run since May of 2007. Cunningham was taken to the jail in Rochester, New
York to await extradition proceedings to return him to Glynn County,
Georgia.

apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives. More federal
fugitives are arrested by the Marshals Service than all other federal
agencies combined.The Savannah Office
of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law
enforcement officers from the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Chatham
