Charles Mike Law was arrested today by
members of the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST).
The 55 year old was wanted by authorities for Felonious Assault. The
warrant for Law stems from what U.S. Marshals Service Assistant
Chief Cathy Jones called a “Drug deal gone bad.” On February 25,
2008 Law was attempting to buy illegal narcotics when he allegedly
shot the narcotics dealer twice in the head at close range. The
incident occurred in Massieville, Ohio which is 5 miles south of
Chillicothe in Ross County. Law went on the run in an attempt to
evade capture and the SOFAST began an intense and immediate
investigation.
On March 12, 2008 Law was found
hiding out with an associate at 427 Edgewood Avenue in Greenfield,
Ohio when SOFAST task force officers closed in for the arrest. Task
force personnel from the Ross County Sheriff’s Department, the U.S.
Marshals Service, the City of Columbus Division of Fire, the City of
Reynoldsburg Police Department, and the Ohio Adult Parole Authority
were all present when Law surrendered peacefully.
Ross County Sheriff Ron Nichols
credits the “cooperative efforts and partnership of all the task
force agencies” in apprehending Law. Sheriff Nichols added that
because of the ability to “Reach out and utilize joint resources”
SOFAST has been successful in taking dangerous fugitives off the
streets. |
