U.S. Marshal Nearly Run Down By a Violent Fugitive

Atlanta, GA – At approximately 7:15 p.m., on March 11, 2008, investigators from the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Brian Shane Powers, 32. During the arrest a USMS investigator in fear for his life fired at Powers as he attempted to injure the investigator with a motor vehicle.

Powers attempted to flee using the motor vehicle and struck three vehicles during that flight before he was stopped and arrested as he exited the vehicle to continue his flight on foot.

Powers was wanted by the Atlanta Police Department for Robbery by Force, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude and Escape. Additionally, Powers was wanted for violation of his Georgia State Parole.

The USMS Inspector was treated and released from Kennestone Hospital.
