MICHIGAN NARCOTICS FUGITIVE ARRESTED BY TASK FORCE

AUSTIN – Ricardo Jaimes of Edinburg, TX, was arrested yesterday evening by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force without incident. The Task Force received information from the U.S. Marshals Service, Grand Rapids office advising that Jaimes, the remaining fugitive in a drug conspiracy, had fled from a November 2007 federal indictment handed down in the United States District Court in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Additional information indicated Jaimes would temporarily be in the Buda area. The Task Force initiated surveillance in and around Buda after it was learned what vehicle he would possibly be in. After extensive surveillance throughout the week, Jaimes’s vehicle was observed entering the Cabela’s parking lot where he was surrounded and taken into custody.

Jaimes is alleged to have been involved in a conspiracy with others to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute over 100 kilograms or more or marijuana.

Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force participating in the arrest were the Austin Police Department – Intelligence Unit, Hays County Sheriff’s Department, Travis County Sheriff’s Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service.

LaFayette Collins, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas states, “The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force is committed to hunting down fugitives who serve no purpose but to sell and profit from their illegal enterprise. We are more than happy to send Jaimes back to Michigan aboard our delivery service”.
