Savannah Fugitive Captured

A fugitive wanted by Savannah Police Department for Aggravated Assault was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department (SCMPD) Patrol Units and SCMPD Canine Units at an address on Alaska Street in Savannah, GA.

Quincy Van Dyke Duncan, 30, was being sought on a warrant issued in Savannah, Georgia charging him with Aggravated Assault that occurred on June 22, 2006. This case involved a stabbing that occurred in the 900 block of Pennsylvania Ave. The case was referred to the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force to help locate and arrest this subject. Numerous leads have been worked by the task force and the indication was that Duncan had left the Savannah area. New leads generated by the Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and SCMPD indicated that Duncan had returned to the area and might be at an Alaska Street address.

The Marshals Fugitive Task Force members along with SCMPD Patrol and Canine units went to the Alaska Street address and found Duncan at the residence. Duncan was arrested without incident. Duncan was taken to the Chatham County Jail.

Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of approximately 34,000 federal fugitives. More federal fugitives are arrested by the Marshals Service than all other federal agencies combined.

The Savannah Office of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Chatham County Sheriff's Department, the Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest fugitives charged with violent crimes, drug crimes, sex offenders, and other felonies. Last year, U.S. Marshals task forces arrested more than 27,000 state and local fugitives on felony charges.
