Notice: All Gallery Educator positions for the 2008-2009 academic year have been filled.
Gallery Educators are vibrant and dedicated individuals who make significant contributions to the National Portrait Gallery’s educational mission. These paid educators facilitate the Portrait Gallery school programs that take place in the Donald W. Reynolds Center. As the face of the Education Department, Gallery Educators engage and excite young visitors through the medium of portraiture while relaying pertinent historical, biographical, and cultural information about images on display at NPG. We call our approach to programming “walk, talk, think, and do,” which challenges young people to make their museum visit an interactive experience. Being a Gallery Educator requires enthusiasm, interest, and availability. All applicants must be willing to commit to one program per week for the duration of the academic year, annual training sessions, and at least one year of service.
