4-H Night at Cyclone Women’s Basketball Game

2/25/2009

AMES, Iowa – More than 700 Iowa 4-H’ers and their families will be cheering on the Iowa State University women’s basketball team during 4-H Night March 7 at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclone women will be playing Kansas at 7 p.m.

“Look for the Cyclone fans wearing their green 4-H T-shirts,” said Shelly Greving, of the Iowa 4-H Foundation.

“This is a great way for 4-H’ers from all across Iowa to connect, and it provides an opportunity, beyond the county, to get out and meet other 4-H’ers in a relaxed atmosphere,” Greving said. “It’s also a fun opportunity to support Cyclone women’s basketball.”

The Iowa 4-H Foundation sponsored an initial ticket promotion for 4-H’ers and their families and friends, Greving said, but anyone associated with 4-H is welcome to attend to make this a great showing for Iowa’s 4-H program.

During 4-H Night a basketball autographed by Bill Fennelley and the women's team will be given away to one lucky fan. Glen and Mary Jo Mente will be honored as friends of 4-H, in a ceremony showcasing their commitment to the 4-H program. During halftime a live interview with a 4-H alum will be broadcast on Cyclone Sports Radio Network.

4-H’ers who would like to attend with a large group or get more information should contact their ISU Extension county office or Shelly Greving at (515) 294-1607. To receive this promotion, tickets must be purchased online by 10 p.m. on Feb. 26. For regular single-game ticket prices, check the Iowa State University Athletics Web site, www.cyclones.com.

4-H is a community of 6 million young people across America learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H or how to get involved contact your ISU Extension county office.
