Regular Staff Positions
The University of Kentucky employs over 10,000 staff in a broad spectrum of employment opportunities (administrative, technical, scientific, office & clerical and service & maintenance positions).

Temporary EmployeeTemporary Employment
A staffing agency for departments within UK, a variety of temporary non-student positions are staffed through Temporary Employment including medical, food service, clerical, skilled trades, custodial, professional positions and more.

Library Positions
There are 15 different library locations at UK where a variety of staff and faculty contribute to the mission of education and research. Professional, clerical and student opportunities are available throughout the year.

UK Cooperative Extension Positions
The UK Cooperative Extension Service is an educational outreach program of the University of Kentucky with offices located in all 120 Kentucky counties. UK County Extension Agents provide on-going research based educational opportunities to improve quality of life in local communities. A variety of positions are available throughout the state.

NurseNursing Positions
The University setting provides an excellent opportunity for nurses to utilize their expert knowledge and skills in caring for the highest acuity patients with the greatest needs through collaboration with experts from all the health care professions and with the aid of state-of-the-art technology. Nursing at UK Hospital and UK Children’s Hospital has just been awarded Magnet Status by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

FacultyFaculty Positions
The University consists of 16 academic and professional colleges which hire faculty throughout the year. Employment for faculty positions are handled administratively within each academic college.

 

Student Employment
A University Referral Service which assists students in securing flexible employment while attending the University. The staff who work with Student Employment assist students who seek employment with departments within the University and also provide students with referrals for employment opportunities in the Lexington Community.

Other Student Opportunities

  • Dining Services
    UK Dining Services hires more students than any other department on campus or any company in Lexington. Students who work with UK Dining Services make extra money, receive a free meal per shift and make new friends. Attention is paid to class schedules.

  • Experiential Education (Internships)
    The Office of Experiential Education offers career-related work/learning opportunities for all majors through internships, shadowing and service-learning. Positions may be paid of unpaid and academic credit may be earned.

  • Federal Work Study
    The purpose of Federal Work-Study (FWS) is to provide students with part-time employment to help meet college costs and, if possible, provide work experience in a related field. FWS is a federally funded and need-based program.

  • Residence Life
    The Office of Residence Life employs Students to work in the residence halls on campus in several different capacities. The majority of positions are “desk clerk” positions. These involve working at the front desk of a residence hall, checking-in visitors, answering questions and serving as a resource. Residence Life also hires students to serve as Resident Advisors, who live on a floor with students and provide programming and other support, and Recycling Associates, who facilitate the recycling program in the residence halls.

  • Student Volunteer Center
    The mission of the Student Volunteer Center is to serve, connect, and unite the University of Kentucky students, faculty, staff, and alumni with the surrounding community in collaborative efforts to promote life-long community service. The Student Volunteer Center is open Monday - Friday while classes are in session.
