Contents

Marketing Bill and Farm Value

The table Marketing bill and farm value components of consumer expenditures for domestically produced farm foods delineates consumer expenditures for U.S. farm-originated foods into marketing costs and farm values. The farm share of the food dollar declined nearly continuously during the period covered in the table. Changes over time may result from changes in a number of factors, including marketing costs, the quantity of marketing services (for example, the amount of processing by food manufacturers), or the product mix.

Components of the Marketing Bill

The table Components of the marketing bill for domestically produced farm food presents the distribution of the various services and materials required to market food, such as labor, packaging, transportation, and energy.
