Volunteering

[Photo]: People planting a tree.Volunteers are the heartbeat of the Forest Service. The types of work a volunteer can perform are many and varied; the only tasks a volunteer cannot carry out are those associated with law enforcement. Your talents and skills are matched with your work preference to obtain a role that satisfies you and best fulfills the mission of the Forest Service. You may work on a part-time or full-time basis. You can participate in a one-time project or serve over several months, seasons, or year around. The commitment you make is up to you. Training may be also be provided to you if your job requires it.  Forest Service volunteering »

Volunteer.Gov is a one-stop internet-based web site that revolutionizes the matching of volunteer interests and abilities with available opportunities nationwide. Individuals are able to search for volunteer opportunities by the following criteria: volunteer activity, location of opportunity, effective date of the opportunity, the sponsoring partner or by a keyword search. Positions are available nationwide with several Federal, State and local agencies.

We also suggest you contact our Supervisors Office to learn more about the opportunities to volunteer on the Mendocino National Forest. Volunteer applications may be requested by calling (530) 934-3316.
