SYMPTOMS

After the installation of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE), the system fails to verify successful installation. You might have seen some of these messages when trying to verify JRE installation:

You do not have the latest version of JRE, please install the latest version of JRE.
JRE is unable to verify in a timely manner, either you don't have the latest version or there is a problem with the installation.
After installing the latest version of the JRE, Java.com installation verification only detects Microsoft VM 1.1.4.

CAUSE

The exact cause of this error is not known at this time.

WORKAROUND

We appreciate your patience while we are investigating this issue. In the meantime, you can run the Test VM applet which would allow you to verify your JRE installation.
