Many Thanks for All That You Have Done

Paula and I want to extend our warmest greetings and best wishes to you and your families.

This past year has been exciting with our historical workload in civil works, military programs, and R&D. You helped the Army improve the lives of our Soldiers and their families, reduced risk to Americans through key flood control and coastal projects, and provided our nation with critical engineering expertise.

You helped the good people of Louisiana and Texas recover from Gustav and Ike during a very active hurricane season. We could not be more proud of you and the magnificent work you are doing to build this country strong.

We are especially grateful to the Corps' civilians and Soldiers who will spend this holiday season away from their loved ones -- many in harm’s way. Please join us in praying for them and their families and giving thanks for their selfless service and sacrifice.

Paula and I wish all of you a safe and joyful holiday season, and a prosperous New Year. I look forward to meeting tomorrow's challenges with you as the Corps "gets 'er done" at home and around the world -- BUILDING STRONG!

Lt. Gen. Robert L. Van Antwerp
