MORE TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Internet Firewall could be either software or hardware. Some examples of known Firewall software are: Windows Firewall (incorporated with Windows operating system), Zone Alarm Firewall, Norton Internet Security etc. In all cases, it protects your computer from outside internet attacks that might pose threat to your internet security as well as files on your computer.
The Firewall functionality allows you to set up rules to either permit or deny passage of internet traffic.
If you have not configured the Firewall with your set of rules, expect that standard security practices dictate a default–deny Firewall rule set applies.
