THE FANWOOD COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Foundation was established in October 1998 to:

Help where the needs are the greatest and the benefits to Fanwood and its citizens are most substantial
Provide public spirited donors with a vehicle for using their gifts in the best possible way now and in the future, thereby providing for inevitable change.

You are invited to become a member of the Fanwood Community Foundation!

BECOME A DONOR

There are many ways to give to the Fanwood Community Foundation as it builds a growing permanent endowment through the support of a wide variety of citizens and groups. We will gladly discuss the tax benefits of each option.

OPTIONS FOR GIVING NOW:

Cash gifts-- simplest, effective immediately.
Gifts of appreciated assets-- gifts can include stocks, bonds or real property. These gifts are particularly beneficial for donor under current tax laws.

OPTIONS FOR FUTURE GIVING:

Bequest by Will-- an outright bequest to the Foundation or one of its affiliated funds is the simplest means of providing for your community.
IRA or Qualified Plan-- funding a charitable bequest made with pre-tax dollars from a retirement plan or IRA reduces taxable liability to your estate.
Charitable Remainder Trust-- offers a gift to the Foundation without loss of income while providing a current income tax deduction.
Charitable Lead Trust-- "loans" of assets to the trust that are eventually returned, usually to the donor's children. Such trusts may result in significant savings in gift or estate taxes.
Charitable Gift Annuity-- a life annuity for one or two lives issued by the Foundation in exchange for gift property, guaranteeing annuity payments and offering a tax deduction with the Foundation receiving your capital gift when your income need ends.
Life Insurance Policy-- naming the Foundation as owner and/or beneficiary is a way virtually everyone can make a meaningful gift. Policies that were never used for their original purpose make excellent gifts to the Foundation. A donor might purchase a policy.
Real Property with Lifetime Use-- a gift of real estate may be made to the Foundation while providing the donor with its lifetime use. Upon the donor's death, the property is the Foundation's asset and is excluded from the donor's estate.

THE GRANT PROCESS

Thank you for your interest in this process. An important part of the Foundation's mission is to help where the needs are the greatest and the benefits to Fanwood and its citizens are the most substantial.

Grants will be made solely to non-profit organizations, which serve the social, physical, educational, civic, and cultural needs of the community. If your organization falls within our mission, you are invited to submit a grant proposal. Grants are funded from the Foundation's earned income, so this year's request should not exceed $1,000.
