The research is part of a new USDA funded western regional project (http://enhancedbc.tfrec.wsu.edu/jobs.html). The postdoctoral position will take the lead in conducting experiments designed to evaluate (i) demographic toxicity of pesticides to walnut aphid and two natural enemies, Trioxys pallidus and Hippodamia convergens, both in the lab and field, and (ii) the development of host-induced plant volatiles for monitoring the phenology and abundance of natural enemies in walnut orchards. The successful applicant will also be expected to develop their own research program to complement the broader goals of the project. Applicants should have attained a PhD within the last five years in entomology or related field. Previous experience with orchard insects and biological control would be advantageous, but not essential.
