Founded in 1969, the Western Historical Quarterly, official journal of the Western History Association, presents original articles dealing with the North American West—expansion and colonization, indigenous histories, regional studies (including western Canada, northern Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii), and transnational, comparative, and borderland histories. Each issue contains reviews and notices of significant books, as well as recent articles, in the field. Published: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.

• You can download a copy of the article published prior to or during 2001 by going through any library that subscribes to JSTOR, an online journal storage facility. The website is www.jstor.org Your local librarian may also be able to get the article for you through an inter-library loan.
  
• You can download a copy of any article published during or after 2002 from the History Cooperative. If your library does not have a subscription to this service, a guest-pass is available at www.historycooperative.org
  
• You can download a copy of the article by going through any library that subscribes to Ebsco, an online journal storage facility. The website is www.ebscohost.com
  
• You can order an offprint (if available) or photocopy of the article for $10.00
  
• You can request an emailed .pdf copy of the article for $10.00
  
• You can purchase the back-issue of the WHQ with the requested article for $15.00 (Out of print:  Summer 1981,  Winter 1991, Fall 1995, Autumn 2004)
