Missouri

In a recent report, Missouri NRCS and
the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) highlighted the landscape level
response of northern bobwhite quail to the development of wildlife habitat using
NRCS conservation practices. Written by Bill White of the MDC, the article shows the cooperative effort by landowners, MDC, NRCS, and other
partners. It is available for reading at the
USDA-NRCS Bobwhite
Restoration Project webpage.
The important responses being seen in CSP and other USDA programs are the result
of technology being developed by the Agricultural Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC),
refined by the State Offices, and planned by the Field Offices. All of this
effort resulted in Scott County, Missouri, being the first in the nation to
reach the population goals established by the National Bobwhite Conservation
Initiative.

these landscape level changes.
Additional technology will become available in the near future from the
USDA-NRCS Bobwhite Restoration Project. The monitoring of northern
bobwhite quail and other wildlife, done by Missouri NRCS and MDC, will also
contribute to the CEAP Wildlife Project.
