PNSN WEBICORDER CHANGES Feb. 4, 2004

New Navigation

Webicorders now use two windows, one to display the index and the other for individual webicorder record. This makes it easier to page through a series of webicorder records, either in time sequence or across stations. To test-drive the new format, we recommend resizing the index window long and narrow across the top of the page, and placing the webicorder window below it. Scroll the index to a station, and click on successive time periods.

A few issues with this format may cause slight confusion:

  • Visited links may not change color until the index page is refreshed.
  • Depending on the browser, the new window may hide or be hidden by the original. Resizing the top window should reveal the second one.
  • The webicorder page could be overlooked if it appears in a previously minimized window. Check minimized browser windows if the webicorder page is not visible.

Linking to Current Webicorder

Current webicorders now have fixed web addresses! Bookmark your favorite webicorder station for easy monitoring or add a link to your website. The URL will not change unless or until that station gets removed from the webicorder line-up (a rare occurrence).

Finding the URL to bookmark or link to:
    • Method 1: The current webicorder name will be similar to the names of the dated webicorder records, but the date info will be replaced by the word "current". For example, if the link to a webicorder record is:
        http://www.pnsn.org/WEBICORDER/PNSN/JCW_EHZ_UW.2004120100.html
the current record will be found at:
        http://www.pnsn.org/WEBICORDER/PNSN/JCW_EHZ_UW_current.html
    • Method 2: The webicorder maps will point to the current record. Find and link to any webicorder through URL http://www.pnsn.org/WEBICORDER/webimaps.html. Bookmark or link to the record.
If the webicorder lineup changes, your link will be redirected to the PNSN "Missing" page.
