This search form allows a user to view and download Health-Based Screening Level (HBSL) values for 436 unregulated contaminants (those without Maximum Contaminant Levels) analyzed by the National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program. HBSLs are estimates of benchmark concentrations of contaminants in water that may be of potential concern for human-health. HBSLs are used in screening-level assessments to provide an initial perspective on the potential relevance of detected contaminants to human health and to help prioritize further investigations. HBSLs do not consider all potential human exposure pathways (only drinking water ingestion), nor do they address ecological concerns.
Learn more about what HBSLs are, how they are calculated, and guidance on their use.
List of compounds with Health-Based Screening Levels (HBSLs) that have been revised since the online availability of the HBSL database (since March 21, 2006). These compounds have had revisions to either the HBSL values or the remarks associated with HBSL values.
