Centers for Epidemiology and Animal Health
The Centers for Epidemiology and Animal Health (CEAH), is a part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Veterinary Services (VS).
Within VS, CEAH is looked to for its innovation and teamwork in helping the United States agricultural community deal with tough animal health issues. Our multidisciplinary staff produces timely, factual information and knowledge about animal heath.
CEAH is comprised of three Centers. While each Center has a specific focus, all three Centers share resources with similar areas of expertise that all combine to meet the needs of VS and APHIS.
CEAH is also the OIE Collaborating Center for Animal Disease Information Systems and Risk Analysis, and is involved in various international activities.
The work of the Center for Emerging Issues (CEI) keeps key agency and industry decision makers and interested members of the public informed regarding animal health issues that may impact the United States. CEI identifies and analyzes both emerging animal health issues and emerging market conditions.
The National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS) collects, analyzes, and disseminates data on animal health, management, and productivity across the United States. The NAHMS unit conducts national studies on the health and health management of America's domestic livestock populations.
