Small Businesses Receive Contracts for Green Technology
(Washington, D.C. – Feb. 20, 2009) - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded $1.6 million in contracts to 23 small companies to assist their efforts to bring promising new green technologies to market. This award is part of EPA’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, which helps small business throughout America develop technologies that are more protective of our air and water quality and promote alternative sources of energy.

Small Business in Gainesville, Fl., Wins Aircraft Cabin Air Purification Research Contract
(Atlanta, Ga. – Feb. 5, 2009) - EPA has awarded a $69,795 Phase I contract for aircraft cabin air purification to Sol-gel Solutions, LLC (Sol-gel), in Gainesville, Fl., through its Small Business Innovation Research program. The contract is one of four “proof of concept” awards made in the Southeast to test the feasibility of the companies’ research concepts. If the results of this phase are successful, the company can submit a proposal for a Phase II contract of up to $345,000 to help commercialize the technology.

Constellation Technology Corporation in Largo, FL wins EPA research contract
(Atlanta, Ga. – February 5, 2009) - Constellation Technology Corporation in Largo, Fla. has been awarded $70,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program to develop an integrated recovery and detection system for online water supply monitoring. The integrated system is designed to efficiently capture and recover pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, and toxins from water supplies and to detect and identify those pathogens in an automated fashion.

Innova Tech, Inc. in Morrisville, NC wins EPA research contract
(Atlanta, Ga. – February 5, 2009) - Innova Tech, Inc. in Morrisville, NC has been awarded $70,000 from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program to develop a new cost-effective emissions control system for restaurant underfired charbroilers. Some of the anticipated benefits of the system are: ease of maintenance/service, increased environmental compliance, reduced operational costs, elimination of contaminated media disposal in landfills and longer service life.
