Released: May 3 2007 China, Peoples Republic of  | China Suspends Imports of U.S. Poultry Products from West Virginia   CH7034 Highlight: On April 17, 2007, China’s Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and the General Administration for Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) jointly announced the suspension of imports of poultry and products from West Virginia. China took these regulatory actions in response to an H5N2 LPAI outbreak in Pendleton, West Virginia, announced by USDA on March 30, 2007. China’s announcement was issued and effective on April 17, 2007 and was published on AQSIQ's web site on April 24, 2007. According to the OIE, cooked poultry should be excluded from China's ban; additionally, China should resume imports of West Virginia fresh/frozen poultry three months after the outbreak and disinfection measures on the affected commercial farm.
