2008 Western Regional Cooperative Soil Survey Conference
in conjunction with
Western Society of Soil Science Meeting

Spokane, Washington

June 16-20, 2008

The 2008 Western Regional Cooperative Soil Survey (WRCSS) Conference and the Western Society of Soil Science (WSSS) Meeting were held jointly in Spokane, Washington, from June 16-20, 2008.  The conferences provided many opportunities to share information and build partnerships between these two organizations with interests in soil resources.

The theme for the joint conference was “Soil Survey and Ecological Site Classification”.

A joint, mid-week field trip was conducted to view and discuss the challenges and procedures in developing Ecological Site Descriptions (ESDs). It included stops in both range and forest sites. Resource specialists from various disciplines described processes and procedures that they employ to develop a fully-populated ESD.

A joint poster session was also held with good representation from both societies.

All meetings took place at the Red Lion Inn at the Park in Spokane, Washington.
