GSA's Public Buildings Service (PBS) hosted an FBI Industry Day in San Francisco on February 6. Since September 2001, the FBI increased facility security requirements in support their specialized task forces and anti-terrorism initiatives. Almost 200 private sector developers, architects and general contractors participated. The event was designed to educate GSA's industry partners on the FBI's new construction requirements and GSA's two-phase source selection and build-to-suit bid process. The presentation team included:
- National Office Customer Service FBI Program Director Matt Saitta,
- Southeast Sunbelt Regional Director of Project Management Brian Whelan, and
- Rocky Mountain Region Real Estate Contracting Officer Mark Pearce.
The Pacific Rim Region was represented by:
- Regional Administrator Peter Stamison,
- Assistant Regional Administrator for PBS Jeff Neely,
- Real Estate Director Matt Elawady,
- FBI Program Director Tom Hixson,
- Property Development Deputy Director Matthew Jear,
- Portfolio Senior Asset Planner Jon Ballard, and
- Security Program Expert Jim McDonald.
FBI officials provided an overview of how facility design and layout plays a pivotal role in the FBI's new mission.
